The Secret to 'Secret' - The new single by Vaureen.

The second single Secret off of Vaureen's forthcoming debut album Extraterra has recently premiered at New Noise Magazine.
Singer / guitar player Andrea Horne created art for the single that reflects the thick, swirling layers of sound in the song and points to the lyrical theme.

The band sent the following out via their email newsletter :

"We are incredibly excited to share the second single off our upcoming album Extraterra. Andrea was inspired to write "Secret" after hearing a Radiolab episode called "The Bad Show." One of its stories is about a serial killer (dubbed the Green River Killer), and the detective who hunted him for 17 years. When he was finally captured, the detective became deeply distressed by the absence of a clear motive for the horrendous crimes.

All of the stories in "The Bad Show" explored the central question: where does evil come from? "Secret" continues that inquiry; its lyrics blur between first and third person, but offer no conclusion — only room to wonder.

"Secret" took us years to finish. The song started out as iPhone recordings of Andrea's washy, intricate guitar loops. We iterated over it countless times, changing the song structure, messing with time signature shifts, and making small adjustments to the melody. Some of our long-time fans might remember a song called "Albatross" off our Dirty Floor EP of demos. "Secret" is sort of like Albatross 2.0, but more grand, way more heavy, and much more Vaureen-like."

The band's full length album Extraterra will be out on October 26th. To celebrate, Vaureen will be headlining at the Rising Pulse Records 10th Anniversary Party (Sponsored by Distrokid) on Friday, October 19th at Brooklyn Bazaar with special guests Pants Exploder and MC
Dälek.
