Crooked Man Releases Debut Digital EP

Finally, we are just days away from the release date of Crooked Mans debut EP. The band was formed by Candiria Guitar player John LaMacchia and includes Bassist Michael Shaw, Drummer Wayne Daren Schneiderman and Vocalist/Keyboard Player Sabrina Ellie.
The four song EP includes titles such as Severed heads, The parting Gift and Crucifer and was recorded by Brooklyn based engineer and producer Andrew Schneider. The BBC style vibe of the Coextinction Recording Series gives this EP a somewhat live and raw feel. A perfect match for the song writing style. It has been some time since our last post. We are making some changes to how Rising Pulse records functions on the net. Expect to see a lot more activity in 2012 with new releases and tons of new merch that will be for sale.
In the mean time Julie Christmas as Co. have been very busy working on a new track called scalps. This track crushes and will make its debut on the Falling Down Compilation due out in early 2012 in Europe. Here is a preview of that song.
There is also a buzz goin around that there may be a NYC Julie Christmas show in January. At least thats the word on the street. Guess well have to wait and see about that. In the mean time please check out some of the Julie Christmas tee shirt designs we have available at www.risingpulse.com

Brooklyn's Julie Christmas has been mysteriously under the radar as of late. But far from disappearing, the emerging singer/songwriter has been busier than ever. Christmas is scheduled to release her first solo record, The Bad Wife, this fall. More details about the album are forthcoming, but "July 31st," a song from the pending release, is featured on the soundtrack for Paramount film, Wrong Turn at Tahoe, starring Harvey Keitel and Cuba Gooding Jr. A video to promote the album is in production.

"I use sounds to express feelings and ideas that I am too clumsy to get across with words alone," explains Christmas. "Working with amazing visual artists - people who speak in images - gets me one step closer to really communicating with anyone nuts enough to listen."

First noticed for her startling performances in NYC underground band Made Out of Babies, and her devastating vocals in Battle of Mice, and super-group Spylacopa, Christmas has been busy expanding her repertoire. Currently, Christmas is collaborating with Nix Turner, renowned illustrator of worldwide counterculture icon, Emily the Strange, to create a book titled The Scribbles and Scrapes of Amy Anyone: (A Multiple Personality Autobiography). Christmas wrote the story and is working on music for the release of an accompanying CD, which features a tone signaling the reader to turn the page.

In addition, the singer recently worked on the soundtrack for a French indie film Le Debut, in which a young couple resorts to infanticide when faced with the challenges of poverty, depression and parenthood. Christmas's band, Made Out of Babies, is currently writing their fourth full-length album, scheduled to be released in the Spring of 2011. Live shows and exhibitions with visual artists are being arranged. We should be hearing a lot from Christmas in the upcoming year.

Label update.. one year anniversary

Hello all, just a quick update to keep you all in the loop with all things Rising Pulse related.
First off, it is our one year anniversary this month. So congrats to us. It was a fun year and we met all expectations even though we hit some pretty big bumps in the road ie.. the economy pretty much bottoming out, a surprise Candiria release that we didnt even have enough time to prepare for, the music industry plagued with crap music and everyone and their grandma stealing anything they can get their hands on. Well, whatever, we are surviving and having some fun in the process and most importantly releasing some music we are pretty proud of and that's the whole reason I started this thing.
Anyways.. let's get to it..

Spylacopa is gearing up to release a Digital bundle of the Debut EP.. this bundle will also include some 3 or so rare tracks not included on the EP, a butt load of photos, wallpapers, exclusive images and original concept art images that inspired the art for the EP itself. It will be available in the next few weeks so look for it on the spylacopa myspace page.

Second, Candiria is working on a series of photoshoots which will be the meat and potatoes of the art for the remix EP series entitled Toying with the insanities. The first volume of 4 will be a CD ep digipack, it will include a sweet 18 x 24 inch poster.. Some of the remixes or revisitations include contributions from artists such as Dalek, Edgey, Kayo Dot, Spylacopa and a few others TBA.. its run time is nearly 40 minutes so its a meaty EP!! Keep an eye out for more news on that release!!

Rising Pulse Records moves forward and continues working on the next releases. First and foremost is the Candiria 4 volume 12" ep series Toying With The Insanities. Remixed earlier Candiria works with contributions from artists such as Dalek, Spylacopa, Dillinger escape Plan, Dub Trio, Kayo Dot, Pole, Friendly Bears and many others TBA.
In other related news. John LaMacchia is collaborating with Julie Christmas (Made Out Of Babies, Spylacopa, Battle Of Mice) and producer Andrew Schneider (Cave In, MOOB, Keelhaul) to score music for Director David Blin's first feature film, Debut. A controversial saga of a man, a woman and a newborn baby. Stay tuned for more news about this film and the music.
Spylacopa is anticipating their next move. With several unfinished tracks the group is contemplating its next step after its well received debut release. More news on that coming soon.. well that's all for now.

So it is official. Candiria's Kiss The Lie will finally be released. After a long wait, Type A records has agreed to release Kiss The Lie. Type A records has also agreed to allow Rising Pulse Records to release Kiss The Lie on vinyl!!! We have no official release date yet but we are working hard on putting together artwork and mastering the music with bonus material and alternative takes that will only be available on the vinyl version.

They wrote a great review, besides the fact that for some reason John LaMacchia is now apparently Dan LaMacchia. If you don't know what I'm talking about then pick up the issue and check it out. Pretty funny.

Hello again, its been a while since we updated so just a quick heads up on a few things. First off, as you know, or maybe you don't, Tuesday November 18th. Is thr release date for the Spylacopa Debut EP. That night there will be a record release party at none other than Lucky 13 saloon in Park Slope Brooklyn. Those of you who can should attend. There will be free booze from 11-midnight. EPs will be on sale, as well as tee shirts and signed posters. So come and hang out, a bunch of friends and press and all sorts of folks will be there. So, hopefully I'll we'll see you there.

The european version will be slightly different than the US version but will not be available for many months to come. Also, Rising Pulse will be pressing the EP to vinyl as soon as we can fund it. So as many of you may know, (hence why you've come to the Rising Pulse Records Blog) Spylacopa, which consists of John LaMacchia (Candiria), Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan), Jeff Caxide (ISIS) and Julie Christmas (Made Out of Babies) is releasing their EP November 18th.

All of the necessary information about the release, how to purchase EPs, t-shirts, etc. is all located on their myspace (check the websites toolbar on the right if you don't know the link.) So far they've been getting good reviews and we hope that continues after the full EP is released.
